Garmin chartplotter

The 820 that was installed 2015 card reader not working and Garmin says they no longer support.

Anyone have this happen that has a solution other than replacing chartplotteras Garmin suggests?

My 820 had a problem with the card reader following water ingress.  I dried out the card reader slot as best I could, using pieces of absorbent cardboard, then sprayed it with contact cleaner and used a hairdryer to hopefully dry out any remaining water.  Now works OK, but I seal the edges of the card reader flap with black insulation tape.

Interesting. This started after mooring to stern for a night with intermittent squalls. I always thought that door design was wanting. I’m going to try that and software updates.
