Solar panels
« on: November 12 2011, 19:54 »
I want to install a solar panel for my B36 to trickle charge my batteries when I am away. As the boat is in the South of France it spends quite long periods alone in the sun. I am a bit confused by the various offerings and the need or not of regulators and controllers. If anyone has done this I would be glad to hear from them.

I have just joined the forum this evening to avoid watching Strictly!

Peter

PS What is the opposite of starboard?

I fitted a Panel when I got Odysseus, purchased from China for £120 and £40 delivery arrived 4 days later Via Ebay:-

110 watt glass in an aly frame which I mounted on a S/S frame over the cockpit, Odysseus is in France and in the summer  sun the output is 9.3 amps this keeps all things running all the time. I fitted a regulator, if you do not you will boil the batteries. When sailing with all things on I have never run out of power.
I have 3  110 amp batteries
If you put a panel (plastic) on the deck be mindfull that contrary to the manufactures Guff they break be warned.

Hope this helps.

Sorry late coming back, been sailing.

The paper work is on the boat (in France) but I have the email address of the people from my paypal account.

suguihua1007@gmail.com

I am sure they will be able to guide you to their web site, which at the time was on eBay.
