Quick charger sbc300nit charging
« on: January 26 2024, 15:38 »
Hi

When plugged to shore AC starts (I can hear the fan ) and then it goes on the mode as in the photo . From the manual I understand that the power light should be open and status screen on . Any ideas? Tried with load to (running the fridge etc ) to wake it up no luck . Battery state with multimeter at 12.35

It's probably seen better days.  When my charger died, I replaced it with a Victron Blue Smart IP22 charger (30A, 3 outlets).  It's an excellent little charger, quiet and efficient.

You think it shouldn’t even checked for some fuse inside ? Did you had similar issues ?

The factory-fitted charger on my boat was a Cristec.  I looked inside for fuses, burnt components, etc, but all looked fine.  Cheaper to replace than to try to find someone to fix it.

We went with Sterling, because it could fit in the boat! :-)

And the previous Sterling had lasted 20 years, which is a reasonable lifespan for such things. I did have a look at fixing the old, but the broken components were hard to find after this time and likely more would've failed soon after, so it made sense to renew.

My comment about the Victron was referring to how small it is!  I was amazed when I opened the box it came in.  The charger is only 235 x 110 x 65mm - less than half the size of the equivalent Sterling product.

Just installed it , amazingly compact indeed !
I have to comment also that I am dissatisfied with the quality of the wiring on Bavaria 50 2007 . On my Bavaria 44 2003 the battery wires are tinned , in the 50 not.
