stability index for 2002 Oceans 47 cc
« on: April 29 2022, 00:03 »
Hi, we wish to enter a cruising rally, and the rules require we provide stability numbers. Does anyone know where I can find this for a 2002 Oceans 47 CC. It has a Lloyds CE 0525 plate, but I think this relates to construction. The Australian Sailing regulations specify ISO 12217-2 design category A. We don't have an owners manual for this yacht, perhaps this is where it is listed. Can anyone help? Thanks.

The boat was certified to RCD Cat A and there should be a plate in the cockpit showing this. The certificate is in the handbook and I suggest you contact Bavaia direct for a copy. I would think that your authorities would accept that.

CE Category A (which your boat has) requires a minimum STIX (https://www.performanceboating.com.au/yacht-stability-what-is-stix/#:~:text=Calculating%20STIX%20values%20is%20rather,the%20boats%20overall%20dynamic%20stability.) value of 32.

Your 47 isn't on this list, but you get the idea based on the form factor of the boats. https://ircrating.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/stix_web_latest.pdf

https://sailboat.guide/bavaria/ocean-47-cc Give some more data around her, however not the STIX.
