Cockpit Teak Caulking
« on: December 19 2021, 19:41 »
The caulking along the edges of the wood strips on the cockpit seats is starting to peel.  We’re seeing black spaghetti making a bid for freedom.  Are there any recommendations for what to replace it with, or what to avoid?  I want to seal the edges and avoid any low spots that may hold water.

MS polymer caulking or deck caulking. Steer well clear of PU based products, they won't last and smear soon. Brands are irrelevant, whatever you can get where you are.

I have just removed the edge caulking from my 2000 Bav 34 cockpit seats. I used SIS 440 Caulking which seems to be well recommended.
Good luck, not an enjoyable job but relieved no more black stripes on clothes !
