raw water impeller gasket
« on: February 21 2018, 22:27 »
Is it possible to get a spare gasket for an impeller for a volvo 2020d or do you always have to buy another impeller _ i already have spares.   Also has anyone had success with using a liquid gasket on the impeller housing?

You should be able to purchase sheets of gasket material from a car maintenance supplier. Trace the plan from an existing gasket and cut new gaskets from the sheet. Otherwise, gently place the gasket sheet over the pump and tap around the edges with a soft wooden mallet to mark where to cut with the indents.

I have successfully made gaskets as suggested by Craig. Gasket paper came from eBay  ::)

Get a printing pad, press it on the pump then on to your gasket material. Then Just cut out the print.  :kewl Every good engineer has a printing pad in his tool box  :P

I bought some gasket paper from eBay, and simply photocopied a new gasket onto the paper, then cut it out carefully with a scalpel. Made about ten of them in one go so that I've got plenty of spares. The gasket paper is cheap as chips!

0.5mm should be fine. I have never seen thicker gaskets on raw water pumps

Just make sure your copier is set at 1:1 or the copies will come out the wrong size 👹
