Reefing Loop
« on: July 09 2016, 09:27 »
I have a furling mainsail.
I noticed that the reefing loop rope is damaged.
Does anyone know where I can get one, or is there some sort of tutorial showing how to make a smooth splice that will run nicely?
I didn't measure the loop but I'm guessing I would need approx 14 meters?

Thanks

Lyra

I have at the boat printed instructions that came as part of the Selden manual for the furling system, however the net is full of such instructions such as here:

Just google "endless reefing line splicing" or something similar

I've done mine myself and it's a cover only splice, so fairly easy compared to a cover+core (which would be too thick to work well). Do not ignore the stitching step.
