Bavaria 38 ocean bow roller pin
« on: July 12 2015, 07:24 »
Hi
Has anyone replaced the front pin on Bavaria 38 oceans bow roller with a removal able drop nosed pin.  There are 2 pins one, the most forward is fixed i.e it has no way of removal as it isn't a drop nose pin.  This makes it impossible to quickly remove the anchor if say picking up a mooring with chain attached.
How do I replace it?  It appears to be secured at its ends.  Is it a simple matter of hacksawing in the middle and then pushing each end free from now roller sides and repacing or would I need to drill out the ends?  Alt a glance the end doesn't appear to be welded.
Thanks
John

Yes I did it. I cut a chunk out of the middle and then had to lever the remaining ends out.We fitted a drop nose pin but couldn't find one with a tag to fit a lanyard to it.
