Which Gas Alarm

(1/1)

This is a bit of bolting the gate after the horse has bolted.
Earlier this season we had one of those "moments". I have a Bav 38 (2004) based in the Ionian. We were making passage between islands and my wife went below to put the kettle on for a hot drink. We were both in the cockpit when there was a "bang" 1st reaction "oh another wave on the bow" but this was a little different. My wife looked into the salon "FIRE". Her quick reactions to turn off the gas saved any damage. What had happened was the flexi gas pipe to the cooker which had been replaced over the winter was leaking and a small amount of gas had built up and been ignited from the hob. This resulted in a small explosion and then an open flame from the leaking pipe.
We were very thankful that our instructor all those years ago always stressed the importance of turning the gas off at the bulkhead and purging the gas from the cooker. This undoubtably saved us from having bilges full of gas and NO BIG BANG.
So now I shall be fitting a gas alarm - Any recommendations anybody.

p.s. the gas pipe had been replaced by a professional.
