2016 Cruiser 37 twin wheel max rudder angles
« on: September 05 2024, 09:41 »
Just replaced my Jefa linear drive after servicing and I need to know the max rudder angle for the commissioning set up.

Thanks for any help

Hi Geoff,

I am not too sure but usually the maximum angles are +35 and -35 degrees. I checked on my Garmin and cannot find the initial settings in angles. For set up perhaps first play safe with 30 degrees to see if it is not touching the buffers?
Hope others can provide you with more info about the set up.

Jefa's recommendation for rudder angle is +/- 36 degrees.  It's vital that the linear drive is installed so that the rudder quadrant hits the stops before the linear drive reaches the end of its travel.  Failure to ensure this will wreck the linear drive.

There's a lot of detail on this on the Jefa website - https://jefa.com/steering/products/drives/linear.htm

I did in fact set up 30 degrees on the day I refitted the unit as a starter.
As the boat is coming out early October I thought I would do the final adjustments there where I can see what is going on.

Thanks tiger 79 for the Jefa link.
