Jib Furler Bav 30.
« on: October 30 2013, 20:51 »
My furling line (Furlex) has come adrift. For some reason it has become detached from the drum. How is the line made fast to the drum? I can see it feeds through the eye guide. Does it pass through a small hole in the drum? The end of the line looks as though it has been squeezed by a screw/ plate to hold it fast. Or does it pass through one of the holes in the drum and then held by a stopper knot?

Had the same issue on my Bav 30.

It passes through one of the holes & the screw holds it tight.

Sorry that sounds quite vague and I didn't take any pictures that would assist.

Yes, I thought it might be fixed with a screw. Many thanks.

If it's a Furlex then the line is held by a screw/plate as you suspected. To re-fit you will need to remove the outer cover. A user manual can be downloaded from Selden if you don't have a copy but it is a fairly straightforward operation. I recommend a blanket draped over the bow to prevent accidental losses  ;)

Thanks everyone. I will check in the manual before refitting.
