Power control panel

Hello all,

I’ve recently bought a 2005 Bavaria 42 but don’t have any manuals.  I’d therefore really appreciate some guidance on the ‘secondary’ electricity panel (photo attached). I’m unclear what it’s for and when to use the switches, eg what is ‘K’ and does this panel only relate to shore power, or to inverter, or to something else?

Also happy to be directed to previous posts that give an idiot’s guide to operating and charging the power system.

That's your AC panel. From left to right:

• RCBO (ground fault interrupter + main breaker)
• Breaker: "Cooking" - presumably an AC outlet in the galley?
• Breaker: AC outlet in heads/shower compartment
• Breaker: Hot water heater (calorifier)

Inverters were not a standard item, so it depends what/how that was retrofitted. Sometimes the inverter only has its built-in socket, sometimes it's wired to separate sockets, sometimes to a three-way switch where you can select off/shorepower/inverter which is then routed into the existing AC wiring, in which case it would use the breakers on that panel. You'll have to look around in your boat to see what was fitted.

There should also be a label on that panel, something like "Panel 306", which will let you find a manual for it.
