B250 Spinnaker Set up

Hi all,

Excuse my ignorance should I name anything incorrectly. My vision 46 appears to have come from the factory with a string to pull a spinnaker halyard in. 

I am trying to figure out if that line comes out the top of the mast, just above the forestay, or if I need to add additional hardware.  I think I can see the string tied off just above the forest, in the same assembly.  Perhaps it rounds a block at top of mast and then feeds back down to this point? 

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.  I have the yard scheduled to rig halyard up on Friday, just want to have everything I need.

The spinnaker halyard does come out of a sheave above the forestay. You will see it easily when you pull the halyard through with the mousing line. The rigger in the yard should be familiar with this type of set up.

Just to confirm, look up and you should see the jib halyard coming out below the forestay. Difficult to make a mistake as the jib halyard won't function properly if it comes out through the spinnaker sheave.

I had no problem fitting my spinnaker halyard, nor removing it and replacing after cleaning this winter.

That is indeed what I am seeing.  The question I have is does the line go to a block at the top of the mast or is the block right there above the forestay where I see the mouse line?

It is internal and the mousing line is running over it. Sew a loop into the end of the new halyard. Tie the mousing line to it. Cover the join with tape (I use self amalglamating tape) and pull the halyard through. You may have to ease it over the sheave.

Ok got the spinnaker halyard in but man o man it is kisding the forestay.

Has anyone effectively run a top down furler with this set up?

Yes, works fine, but the tack of the furler must be a minimum of 30cm forward of the tack of forestay. Not usually a problem if you use a Selden prodder for the furler. When not in use I take the halyard down to a U bolt just in front of the mast base. Factory fitted on my boat, not sure if all boats have one.

Hi Sunharvester, I have a top down furler for asymmetric spinnaker rigged from just above the forestay, occasionally have issues with the head catching on the forestay. The tack and furler drum is on a Selden bowsprit Generally works well.

Happy to report a successful deployment Friday.  I purchased this sail used. It came with a CX furler and parts. Amazingly enough it JUST fits. I doubt I have an extra 2 inches. 

We were doing 6 knots in 8 knots off the beam. These are amazing light wind sails. Highly suggested.

I have been using the anchor roller pin to carry the furler. Looking at bowsprit options. Thinking about tig welding something up. But may just get the extendable bowsprit. The last thing I need is another item on my list .

Following up does anyone have photos of a extendable bowsprit pole on a vision?
My deck has 2 obvious locations for attaching rings but the critical attachment is at the foremost point of the bow.  I was considering attaching a ring to the anchor roller but it doesnt line up.  Wondering if anyone has a pic of a factory set up or a custom set up.

On the Cruiser 40 (2009) The ring bracket is bolted to the forestay tang. Having a look at the bow on the Vision the forestay tang is under the foredeck. I think a custom bracket that goes through the deck in front of the forestay and offset to port, which bolts to the forestay tang is the way to go.
