Resealing keel joint
« on: October 04 2020, 12:52 »
Hi guys,
We have just took about boat out for wintering , I noticed that the metal around the joint is a little disintegrated and the sikaflex rubber that we apply needs resealing . Should I put some epoxy metal pudding before ? Or just put the new sika ?

The hull flexes a bit while the keel does not, which leads to these crumbling cracks. Once thoroughly dried out, just apply some adhesive sealant there. When cured, you can sand it and paint it (use sealant that is sand-/paintable).
