Door lock springs source
« on: February 19 2018, 22:00 »
I know I have seen the answer to this before on this forum but I cannot seem to find it with searches.

Can anyone let me have a supplier for the internal lock springs that hold up the handle on the door lock please. These break and then the door wont stay closed. I have replaced two of them with new and now want to replace the springs in the broken ones to carry spares.

UK or US supplier it doesn't matter..... my boat is 2014 but not sure how much if any these locks have changed over the years

Thanks
Ian

I use https://www.assocspring.co.uk/
The part number for the stainless steel spring is E03600411120X

Can't find my previous post on this item either  :o

Thanks Dawntreader much appreciated.

I guess the last thread was a victim of the domain change hence our inability to find it - nothing to do with my decidedly iffy IT skills of course  :)

If you have not done it before have a look at this.

Thanks Scorcher, very useful reference.

I did take one apart to ascertain the issue late last year but could not find the springs to source so bought new locks from Clipper since I ran out of time before leaving for the boat. Figured now I can source the springs when I get back to the UK I can renovate the two that broke and carry spares with me.

I did this. Works a marvel - with two spares I have had no lock failures since I made them  :))

Update on this...

When I took the broken lock apart only the loop at the end of the spring was broken so I made a "new" loop at the broken end with needle nose pliers and reattached the spring to the fixed post on the lock casing.

This works fine and means that in this case I don't need to buy a new spring which is good since I am in Grenada and not easily sourced here.

Hope it helps others
