Bav 30 cruiser lower rudder bearing
« on: May 20 2017, 21:56 »
Hi all,
Just looking for some input... I have gotten a new lower rudder bearing for my bav 30 cruiser but I have measured the lower part and there is a 11mm difference ( the newer one being smaller) has anyone changed out their bearing and had problems with a slightly smaller drop in the lower part as I think this will take the rudder way to close to the hull! Or is there any kind of aftermarket spacer ( short of taking the old one and making a spacer out of that ) ?
Any help is much appreciated.

Hi, can you post some images of the new and old bearing. I have removed my rudder almost every time I haul out and might be able to help. Raph

Hi pea-jay,
I took some measurements tonight with a calliper as I am now in talks with supplier of the bearing, but definitely a 10mm difference between  them as can be seen in the pictures, the only reason I'm asking questions is that there is a 14 mm gap between the rudder and the hull with original bearing but if I Chang it there will only be a 4 mm clearance?
