Update on Po-go

hi all
This is the latest update on work being done on Pogo
1. Hot water system now complete. Glad we now have both and cold hot water
2. new shower head fitted in transom
3.both aft cabins been thoroughly cleaned and extensively dried out.
4. Mattresses been sent away for getting new ones made.
5. Usb port ,cigarette lighter combo fitted to chart panel
6.all d shackles removed resealed, replaced all nuts with stainless nylocks.
7. windex fitted on mast
8. wind speed and direction instrument fitted on mast
9. mast repaired. 40 mm cut off bottom of mast, mast resleaved up to a metre high,some rigging replaced .
10. yeahhh must refitted. pogo now looks like a boat.
11. a few more halyards to be replaced then she is ready for the splash.

will post new updates next month. special thanks to all info supplied by this forum, Paul Carey for the great work done on rigging, and my darling wife and kids for help and encouragement given

Interesting. What was wrong with the mast that it had to be shortened? Do you have a photo of the repaired section of the mast?

And congrats. Sounds like you're progressing fast :)

it looked like the rigging had run loose and the rivetting holes at the bottom had elongated . so 40 mm was cut off and a spacer made, bolted under the heel to make up the 40 mm. there was also a very slight bend between the hole of the furling gearbox and a access hole. this is the weakest part of the selden mast. so the rigger recommended a sleeve made up and rivveted to the mast to give it more strength, this sleeve was annodized and unless you knew about it wouldnt know its there. will post pics on saturday when i go back to the boat.

hi mike. going to the boat on sunday to see if the sails and boom have been put up , and if all ok will organise the launch for this week.
ps. clipper have receive the gas locker latches for around £10 . do you want me to pick you up one?

Good luck with the work on Po-Go Abby.  That's the boat me and my family did out Day Skipper course on a few summers ago.  It was a little tired then but sailed well and handled nicely; when we reported a problem with a bilge pump it was quickly replaced so seemed to be looked after.
