Fuel gauge sender
« on: January 06 2017, 12:35 »
My fuel gauge shows full all the time, problem is in the sender unit. I have the replacement unit (in the meantime I am and will continue manually log engine hours) but would like to know if in order to replace the sender I have also to open the clean out cover next to the sender? It is a 40 gal tank B41-2003 , one of nuts molded in the plastic is turning an idea how to fix that would also be appreciated.
Thank you.

It looks like no one had to change the fuel tank sender. Hard to believe.

You should be able to withdraw the sender through the sender hole.  I don't know how you'll fix an insecure nut.

hi. there is a likelywood you might have to replace the tank. if you succeed in removing the faulty nut without damaging the tank, you can use a captive nut. like this one
. good luck and keep us posted how you got on. to remove the sender drill out the screw, while hoovering to avoid swarf getting into tank.
