Composting Toilet Bavaria 42 2000
« on: April 10 2016, 04:13 »
My B42 year 2000 in Greece has two "conventional" jabsco toilets. I am considering replacing the aft one with a composter.

A couple of questions please....

Has anyone fitted one to my model Bavaria ? If yes, which type or model.

As I live in Tasmania, does anyone know if they are readily available in Greece?

Thanks

Pat

Composting toilets have never proved viable in boats. Can't see any advantage in using them when you have two toilets and holding tanks to deal with your waste - and in Greece particularly readily available land side toilet facilities if you prefer.

We have a Natures Head in our B36H. Works fine but most of the time we are only 2. Could be problems If There are many Users i suppose.

Hi Par. We also are usually 2 POB, occasional friends. Why do you say there may be problems with many users? Do you mean the capacity of the system or poor understanding of how to operate?

Hi, I think it"s a capacity thing, at least do People say so in other forum, Google and You will get plenty of results on for exampel Sailnet or Cruisers Forum.

That said, we love our NH.  We can stay in a place for weeks with no ned to go to a pumpout or destroy the water around us. The urinetank  i easy to empty on land or in the sea, depends on were we are. We had one NH on our earlier yacht to and switched in our new as fast as we Could.  We sail in the Baltic, mostly Stockholm arkipelago.

Thanks Par....I have searched the forums etc and got mostly good opinions but others so so. Typical of forums!
We will return to Penelope in the Ionian Islands early May and again cruise that region. We love the heat after many summers in the western Pacific.
