Title: propellor antifouling
Post by: geoff on November 30 2019, 10:40
I have used Trilux 33 for a long time on my prop . It works sort of OK but barnacles seem quite keen. I now have a Kiwi prop and am very happy with it BUT as it is of smaller blade  area than the fixed 3 blade it replaced it does not respond well to the little critters . I notice at the end of the antifoul season the performance falls off under power. My guess being that the lower area requires a higher loading per square cm and is therefore more[ clean critical]. Does anybody have experience of any of the various new products available ? Geoff

Velox seems to be more effective than Trilux. I shall know better next April when I lift for the first time after a year. However your Kiwi has non metallic blades and Velox is specifically formulated to adhere to metal - in my case bronze on a Flexofold. One of the downsides of Kiwi props is the difficulty of keeping them clean.

Adhesion does not seem to be the problem , just seems to be the Gosport barnacles like Trilux!  Geoff
