During this summer a charter yacht anchored and ended up right in front of us.
This would not have been a problem had a sensible amount of chain been deployed but when the breeze swung through 180deg he finished up behind us.
His chain now caught across the forward edge of our saildrive.
On hauling the boat out for the winter I've discovered a small area of damage (20mm/30mm) on the leading edge of the saildrive where the alloy casting has been exposed.
What is the best way to re-coat/protect the exposed area?

International Watertite (http://www.yachtpaint.com/gbr/diy/products/fillers/watertite.aspx). Clean up the damaged area thoroughly and degrease with acetone, then fill in the damaged area with the Watertite. Once cured, you can apply a compatible two part coating (Interprotect) or simply prime with aluminium etch primer, which will stick to both the aluminium and the epoxy. Then antifoul as usual.
I've used Watertite on underwater alu, faired our lead keel and used the rest to rebuild the base of a corroded windlass - all doing fine after two years. Great stuff.
