Hi anyone know the full rig dimesions for a 2003 38 standard main set up (ie not furling )
Is there not a drawing in your Owner's Manual?

There is a drawing but not actual rig dimensions , sail areas yes , but looking for stuff lile I,J,P,E etc measurements ,

I wrote to Bavaria. They answered in a couple of days with dimensions

I'm looking for the same info for a rig with furling main .
My mast was taken down and stored for winter before i managed to get the measures from it, Bavaria is not answering to my enquiry and Google is giving way too many options.

I have a slab reefed main on my B36(2002), but went to the Kemp Sails website where I was able to print off their measurement guide. Armed with that, a length of cord to be used for measurements and a tape measure to measure the cord and a pair of binoculars, I was able to get all of the measurements I needed from the top of the cabin roof. Hoisting the cord up the mast to the outlet from the top sheave enabled me to measure the leech and the luff, while measuring the foot could be done along the boom. All other measurements were either done with the tape measure where these were to hand, or by estimation, using the fore and aft dimension of the mast as a guide. When the filled out form was submitted to Kemps, they checked it against their records for that type of boat, came back with the comment that my measurements tallied closely with their records, and they then got on with the job of making me a new main sail which fitted perfectly.
Surely you could do the same, but don't send the end of the tape measure up the mast without something else attached to the halyard to bring the end back down if the tape measure falls apart. Be warned !!

Sailmakers have a database with the dimensions of most production boats available. Some of them print them on the quote if you ask for one.
Selden has a database too. If you give them the rig serial number that is etched on the foot of your mast (port side on mine), they can look this up, but only for more recent boats (newer than 2001 at least - due to "IT system changes" the old database is no longer available).

Thanks guys!
I have reveived a couple of offers from sailmakers who looked up their database with different P & E measures.
The offer I got from Elvström is probably the right one:
Bavaria 38 CR 2003 Rig Dimensions (m)
I 14.45
J 4.15
Furling Main
P 13.35
E 4.75

I just received an e-mail from Bavaria, case closed:
Here are rig data of Bavaria 38 Cruiser, year 2003:
P 13,55
E 4,75
I 14,45
J 4,15
These measurements are construction measurements.

Best to just go back to Selden. At the bottom of the mast is the serial number, the format is something like D23-C245-8738-3968ZS. Sned this to Selden and they should be able to send the mast dimensions including location of spreaders and other interesting information!
