Title: Installation, clutch/stopper 2010 Bavaria 32 Cruiser
Post by: Adam Turner on September 20 2022, 15:35
Hi,

I need to install a new clutch/stopper for a single-line reefing kit conversion kit. I've bought the standard single Rutgerson RC 750, for which there's enough space on the raised footplate on the coachroof (illustrated).

I've browsed the forum and the footplate has an aluminium plate sealed in, so theoretically this should be about drilling and tapping holes in that. Others have gone into the cabin (heads on my boat) below to put nuts and washers. I'd prefer not to remove headlining etc unless it's unavoidable

I wanted to ask those with experience what the do's/don'ts/bear in minds are before we break out the toolkit.

Thanks as always for assistance.

Adam

Be sure to use anti-corrosion paste (Duralac, etc) on the fasteners.

I will go for a clutch made out of aluminium or steel.

Also be sure that the rope for that clutch doesn't rub against the main traveller.

I posted in this forum about this issue

Repeating an advice from Yngmar when I had similar question: a cheap construction stud/pipework finder will help you identify the edges of the aluminium plate.

One of these remain out of the aluminum counterplate. I used nut and bolts, but is necessary cut che counter mold.
