Title: 2006 BAVARIA 42 FOOT CRUISER

Hi my hot water tank appears to be leaking. Has anyone replace their hot water tank? IF so where did you buy it? Has any one fixed a their hot water tank?

had to replace mine on Bav 39 - had to take what i found in Corfu Chandlery - some italian made thing- it was only thing available at short notice. Holding up so far but chewed through the anode which I cant find replacement for - had to have one made. See what make yours is - probably a QL in yours.

Hey Ziffus by "Italian made thing" you mean like Ferrari, Maserati, Grand Solei, Perini Navi quality?

Anode ! Do all have an anode. Where is it?

Not all calorifiers have an anode. Depends on the materials they are made out of.

Just a thought russ, does your system have a pressure accumulator fitted? Ours doesn't, so when the engine is running or the immersion heater is switched on there is a tendency for the pressure to rise and the pressure release valve operates allowing a little water to be released into the bilge, this could look like a leak.
 I should really get around to fitting one, this would avoid mopping up the dribbles ever few days. :-[

@Pea-jay. - could be any of those as there wasn't a makers mark on it just the specs were in Italian:)

Hi Russ, we replaced our Bavaria 42 2005 water tank with a similar sized "Isotemp" tank

On our 2010 Bav 38 QL  ( the original tank) had a leak in the heat exchanger resulting in fresh water from the tank entering the engine heating pipes and forcing water out of the engine header tank when the fresh water pump was on.

Replaced with a "Quick" brand, but had to install a slightly smaller tank to fit. No worries since. I did find that the Quick tank's insulation was not good so I squirted expanding polyurethane expanding foam around the tank. Seems to keep the tank hotter, longer.

Make sure you don't over tighten the hoses to the tank. When our new tank was installed the Turkish installer broke the weld between the pipe connection and the tank.
