I have a Volvo D1-30b - does anyone know how to stop one running if the switch on the binnacle was broken for example? I would prefer not to use the 'hand over the air intake' nor 'turn off the fuel' methods but was rather hoping there was a way to manually operate the 'engine stop' :P

There's a little lever on mine with a yellow "STOP" sign on it.

Different looking engine - don't think that is a D130b? I don't have that switch (nor is mine that clean :o)
New: Attached photo of my engine model
Now that I've seen your photo showing the 'stop' I think mine has the same arrangement but is not marked (see photo)??

Yup, lever on the injector pump. Only place it can be :)

Mine's a 2014 engine, so I guess a D1-30F?

Mine's a D1-30B which was 2006 - 2008 as far as I can make out. The original D1-30 engines had a manual switch located so that the engine could be stopped in the cabin but the later models don't seem to have it, or, if they do, it's not marked as such. However, the D1-30 series must all work in the same way. I'm at the Boat Show next week and will speak to the Volvo engineers there. I'll report back on what they say.
fyi - a friend is currently travelling (single-handed) back from Ireland and hit bad weather and an underwater object just off Lands End. Although he's ok, he fell and broke the engine switch and can't turn it off at present :-\

The cabin engine stop lever is not marked (on my engine) but, as suspected, it is located the same as those that are marked. Attached photo highlights where the engine stop lever is located ;) Where's the red paint? ::)
