Title: Bow Thruster
Post by: Capn Tom on September 28 2015, 09:07
I have a 2002 Bavaria 50 with a Sleipner bow thruster (ASN-1612) which has heavy corrosion and in need of replacement.
Rather than haul out and replace the complete unit (i.e motor, impellers and tube), I was hoping to replace the motor only with a later model.
Would appreciate any advice and any recommendations of compatible motors that would 'bolt on' to the existing impeller unit.

If I were you, I'd get a definitive answer direct from Sleipner/SidePower.

Thanks Tiger. They are not represented in Australia, but I guess it's worth asking the question...

Their website says the Australian distributor is AMI Marine - http://www.amisales.com.au/

The other option if you are in OZ is to phone Justin on 0433244306. Justin is the son of the previous Bavaria agent in Australia and has heaps of spares for Bavarias. He took over this division when North/South went to the wall. If he can't assist, I'm sure he will know where to go.

If you are on the Gold Coast, Boatworks usually have everyone you could possibly need to give advice and supply parts etc.

Thanks guys. Sent Sleipner an email and they also steered me to AMI (Don't know how I missed it!).
AMI have been very helpful and looks like I have an updated motor in my sights.
Appreciate the comments.
