Bavaria Yacht Help! / 2011 Bavaria shower drain
« Last post by john102345 on Today at 14:01 »
Hi All
question answer maybe quick one.

I have just recently modified my bilge pump set up as the original fit Bavaria effort was poor!
I have installed a new 750 gallon per hour pump with new wiring, Wired direct into the house bank batteries so I can turn off the shore power & the isolator key when leaving the boat.
I recently used the shore hose pipe to wash out the entire bathroom & toilet I usually just use the shower head & then pump out with the pump in the sump switch located on the Bavaria panel.

My question is how deep is the shower sump & what capacity does it hold? as I used the hose to wash the bathroom I am sure I heard the newly installed bilge pump kick in & bilge to outside at the back of the boat but could not be sure.
I must admit the hose was running at a pace so had 2 " of water in the bottom of the shower.
Would I be right in assuming that once the shower trap is full it has an overflow into the bilge?

Stupid questions I know but would set my mind at rest.

Thanks
John

Have you noticed if sea water has entered the oil, is the oil milky?

What is the oil level on the dipstick in the saildrive?

Bavaria Yacht Help! / Re: Rudder Bearing replacement
« Last post by Marcoholi on Yesterday at 19:35 »
Update: I tightened the upper bolt today (still on the hard) and that did the trick The lower bearing now sits firmly in its place and no extra movement sideways in the rudder. It was difficult to find the tool for tightening, but as it was not very tight I managed to do it with some pliers. Probably the lower bearing needs to be changed in near future anyway as it will wear and come loose again.
Thanks for help everyone!

Should be a 130 model. Hard to see, but the oil is barely visible. It's not coming from the drain plug (that's where the green tape is), but from one of the water intake holes. That means either the internal water channels have corroded away or the gasket between the leg and the gearbox has failed. Or someone tried to clean the water passages with a drill or some such.

You can try and fit a borescope inspection camera in there if it fits and maybe see which problem it is, but either way the saildrive needs to come out and the leg split from the gearbox. Maybe the service (replacement of the rubber diaphragm and also the gasket in question) is due anyways.

That is the drain plug hole. The plug is screwdriver slotted but very a wide slot 2 or 3mm. Under the head of the plug is a nitrile O ring , maybe missing ? Geoff

Bavaria Yacht Help! / Oil leak on saildrive of a MD2030
« Last post by JM on Yesterday at 00:18 »
Hello,
There is a small oil leak on the bottom of the saildrive of my Bavaria 36 2003.
The engine is a MD2030.
The leak seems to come from a small hole as shown on this image.
Any help would be appreciated

same boat same year, if you want to fit tru design type they will fit in all the spaces on that boat, i did mine 18 month ago, its a bit of a squeeze working in the heads cupboard but if you take the door surround off its better access.
i think i posted some photos under diverphil name.

Not  everyone does and DZR is perfectly satisfactory. In some locations it is physically impossible to fit TruDesign because of the increased bulk compared with metal valves.

I had a multidisciplinary group running a module in our MBA on Crisis Management and inevitably the role of the media came into it. One of the team members was a journalist whose research was in this area. How to deal with the media was a key element of managing a crisis.
