Title: Cleat size and manufacturer on Bavaria 32
Post by: Bav32 on June 24 2020, 17:05
Hi there,
Does anyone have info on the cleats for the mainsail halyard on an Bavaria 32 from 2004?

Mine broke, the body on it just "exploded" when I was locking the halyard. Probably have to lay of the gym for a while  ;)

Anyway, I forgot to take the mesurements when I left the boat. Would be nice if someone knew the size and manufacturer, so I could buy a new one.

I assume I will have trouble removing the old skrews, do you guys have any pro tips on this matter?

Assume you mean the rope clutches. They will probably be Spinlock Xas or Rutgerson RC75. Google both for pictures - they are distinctly different.

To remove screws, boiling water first to try and relieve any corrosion, penetrating oil may help as might an impact driver. Above all patience. Use Duralec when replacing to prevent future corrosion.

Thank you Symphony,

Yes, I was talking about the rope clutches. It seems to be a Spinlock xas
