Hi, I would look at fuel starvation, slightly blocked somewhere, as if you had lost compression on 1 cylinder, i would think that you would notice the missfire and the engine bouncing about a bit.

Thanks impavidus, that explains it, I've now got just over 2k of bits sat in a box 📦 waiting for me to get back down to Wales to fit them.
As its Bank Holiday this weekend I think I will wait another week to go or it will take longer to get there than it will take to put on🤣🤣

My engine loses engine revs slowly after startup. So if I put in gear and apply throttle the revs will drop slowly down to a steady 1250 and hold there.

Have bled engine at the fuel pump etc etc. But on cracking the fuel supply pipes one by one I find the middle cylinder does not drop any revs like the others even though fuel is spraying out!

So I thought I would check the compression first before thinking about the injector.

So where do I get the kit for this, and also the correct method to carry out the test.
Thanks in advance for any info
Geoff

Hi Mate. If the engine is starting from cold without a problem then there is no compression issue. The injectors may need a service but they are working or the engine would not start.
I suggest that you look at your fuel system as this is symptomatic of fuel starvation or air being drawn in the fuel supply.  Start at the fuel filters and work your way back through the lift pump, fuel lines and dont forget that the fuel tap or cock can get blocked by debris or bug. Especially if some numpty drilled a hole in the tank to fit a fuel pick-up for a diesel heater, putting plastic swarf in the tank.

Motor Boats / Bavaria 35 sport engine room side decoration
« Last post by finn-ja on May 02 2024, 13:19 »
Hello
Has a Bavarai 35 sport (2013) with thees light grey glassfiber/plastic details on side to cover the engine room (letting air in/out). Beleive 2014 model have the same.
Mine are apx 1,8m long going from apx 25cm wide to about 7-8 and bent arround the corner where the rope bollard is places.
They are mounted with brackets on each sides.

Anyone know where to find such spare parts? Bavaria Norway say the manufacturer for theese parts do no longer exist and I need to produce new ones on my own.
They do not provide any other guiding for what to do.....

IslandAlchemy, yes it looks that way, with elbow and joints paint etc the full unit is  2150, have ordered it and broke the bank for this year, but also wondering if its worth repairing if there so good a rotting away, it will be coming off regularly in the future, and i will be able to see how the water gets in on the new one, there may be a way of modifying to help stop this happening if i can work out what's causing it, as there is no corrosion on the tubes or the mating surface groove for the o rings. leaving me thinking a longer inlet to move any water splash back further down

Welcome to the wonderful world of VP heat exchangers. They are rubbish, and eye-waterlingly expensive unfortunately.

Looks like you're going to need a new one and a new exhaust elbow too.

Yes it's blocked to about 20mm hole in the middle. But that doesn't now surprise me after reading up on it,
Had the boat a couple of years and thought it's one of the 4 or 5 yrs jobs as suggested 🤔
Looking at it ,it must be the first time ever been off. No tool marks on the flange nuts or intercooler hex bolts.

That looks quite rotten, although things like this have been fixed, most workshops will say no. All depends on you finding (or becoming) someone with the right skills! :)

Stainless Bob in Brighton can probably do it.

What does your exhaust elbow look like? Blocked up except for a small hole?
