I can't get any 'smileys' to attach to my texts - anyone else having trouble?
(windows 10 OS)

:o

Seems to work OK - Mac running Firefox.

:tbu
OK, too... (windows but not 10)
-
Fine here :whis
How are you attempting to insert them?
-
I had previously attached them by clicking on the one I wanted with the cursor 'active' in the text box. When I do that now, the cursor disappears - and no smiley

I note that under 'Additional Options' there is a checkbox 'Don't use smileys'. Although this is not checked is there anywhere else where a setting would prevent the use of Smileys? Is anyone else using windows 10 and Microsoft Edge and able to attach them?

Note that the key combination above does not insert a smiley. How are you trying to do it?

Try using Internet Explorer.

Try using Internet Explorer.
Nigel,
I think you may be right. Everything worked well with IE before but now that I'm using Edge I cannot use any of the text configuration tools.

:tbu :cop ;) ;D

Downloaded and installed Chrome - guess what ::)
:) :)

Very happy for you, :) ;) :)

Downloaded and installed Chrome - guess what ::)
Dawntreader; try Firefox. I loved Chrome when it was released but, with each new update, it became slower (old single core laptop). On investigation, during startup it interrogates and reports to Google every programme installed on my machine. Uninstalled and all Google stuff removed (now use DuckDuckGo for searches). Maybe I'm too suspicious.

Mark, thanks for the tip but Chrome is performing well. The slowest thing on this PC is the operator ::) ;)

Hi Dawntreader
Yes, if you have a multi-core processor then you won't experience any slowdown; one core reports back and the other(s) handle the rest of the startup processes. It was only because I had a single core that I noticed the slowdown, which led to the investigation. Uninstalled, as I find it offensive for a 'global' to retrieve that information without my knowledge or permission.

I gave Edge a try for a week, went back to IE.
