Ouch! The mainstream news people seem to have not noticed. I cannot find anything

Got the news from a French forum.

It was a very local storm. My boat is lying in Aegina only 30 NM west so I contacted the boatyard to check. All is fine, they just learnt about it.

Maybe a similar thing happened at Katakolon last year. My Bavaria was stored on the harbour wall and untouched but yachts metres away were toppled.
Seems these "tornados" are very localised, more like twisters in the USA than the cyclones we get here in Australia that have a wide front, many kilometres.
But they are vicious little buggers! No doubt there will be keel, rudder and mast damage everywhere.

We stayed 2 nights in katakolo in 2014 to visit Olympia. We were berthed on the north quay just in front of the train station.

For visitors to Katakolon beware of the old chains remaining from the floating marina berths removed some time ago.
Otherwise a pleasant place.

"unfortunately" no pictures of boats in the water. May well be they all survived. Anyway, those are all bigger boats (15+ mtrs) so to my opinion the racks look all a bit wimpy and also rusty.
I wonder if the Marina there has any insurance, or all the damage must be covered by the owners and their insurance (if any). May any insurance consider this a force majeure (act of God) and refuse compensation?

We were stuck in Katakolon for 8 days in 40 to 55kn southerly winds a few years ago. The "Marina" there is dangerous but if you contact the Port Pilot ( not the Port Police) the Pilot may let you tie up in the main harbour area against the quay closest to the Port Office. We were safe here even though there were 5 metre waves outside.

The Lavrion storm seems to be similar wind strengths to the Vliho Storm in late 2011 where a French sailor died. Most of the Med seems to be susceptible to these type of storms.
