Title: Raymarine C70 playing up!
Post by: PEA-JAY on December 31 2018, 19:17
My C70 has started to play up. It switches and boots normally and works for about 15 minutes then switches off to restart and reboot instantly and this cycle continues. In the mean time the instrument gives correct readings and positions. It’s just this problem switching off and on. Has anyone had a similar fault and solved it? Regards, Raph

Check the supply voltage first.

It’s not a supply voltage problem. It was the first thing I checked

One cure for a lot of problems on the C70 I had many years ago was to reseat all the ribbon cable connectors. This cured a reset problem and the ziggy zaggy lines problem. Worked for me on several occasions, (recomended on the YBW scuttlebutt forum) worth a try before sending to Raymarine.

Hi,
I had similar problems and there is a you tube video which is useful, unfortunately not in English. I tried to copy the link but couldn’t,  try googling “Raymarine c70 reparatur “ it should take you to it.
Cheers
Mike

Problem solved!!
A phone call to Raymarine helpline and a very pleasant and friendly engineer suggested I perform a simple factory reset by pressing the red and grey buttons simultaneously for a few seconds while the display shows a 3 second countdown and restarted the unit. Of course this cleans all stored info.
The engineer also suggested I download latest software version for C70, this being ver 5.16 - mine is the original ver 4.3 but not too sure I’ll do this unless the problem recurres. The plotter has worked perfectly for the past 14 years! 😊
