Shore power outlets swap
« on: March 24 2015, 22:08 »
Hi
Looking to convert Euro style two prong to Aust standard three for my shore power outlets.
Where can get something similar to exchange these with the least modification.
Thanks,

Aquila

I have just changed my double two pin sockets in the galley as I noticed they were getting too warm when running a fan heater one day.  I replaced them with CBE Sockets which is straight swap for the existing ones, same size so no extra holes to cut etc.  I got mine from camperworks.com as they are the same as used in motor home and caravans.  End result is excellent and no more adapters, now I will change the rest out.

Hi DT,I would be interested to learn what you find. I have been intending to convert the power outlets on our Bav 36 as well. We are in Lake Macquarie, NSW.

Fantastic ......thanks. Nice and easy to do a straight swap-over, hopefully.

I will let you know how it goes.

I am sure you will find power point sockets at Australian electrical shops such as Lawrence and Hanson. Take a photo of your current euro sockets and have the dimensions noted and you should have no troubles. Caravan suppliers also may have smaller sizes.
My Bavaria 40 already had aussie plug socket installed... along with safety switch... an absolute must!

I changed the whole socket arrangement and installed proper 13A sockets, easy enough to do

I took the easy way out - you can buy replacement 2-pin plugs in many hardware stores in France. Cut off the 3-pin plug of your device and fit the 2-pin replacement  >:D
