We sailed from the UK May 2013, and over 3,500 Nm later have only had some small minor problems. Our 2007 39 cruiser has been a pleasure to sail and has had ample room ( 3 cabin, 2 heads version ) for the two of us to live a very comfortable life aboard, hope it continues this way over the next 8 yrs
We think maybe the 40 would have given us the same experience, but slightly higher mooring costs !
Which ever model you go for, they really are a fantastic well designed all round solid yacht ( force 11 Biscay crossing, keel still attached
). We saw many other branded yachts on our travels who had not fared as well ! and met quite a few sailors who were turning back to the UK due to their choice of craft !
Would definitely go for which ever one had the bigger engine as our yacht has the uprated 55 hp engine, and when the weather is not to your advantage or to just give an extra push when you need it. Makes a massive difference on long hauls.
We live permanently aboard and currently in the Dodecanese Islands, cruising Turkey/Cyprus/Egypt this year.
