Shoal or Standard draft
« on: January 28 2015, 19:55 »
I've been trying to find data on the Bavaria 37 (circa 2001) draft. It would seem that there are two versions 1 - The shoal draft at 1.6m (I've also seen 1.4m quoted) with a bulb keel and 2 - Normal draft 1.85m with just a straight fin keel.
Is this correct, basically if its' a Bavaria 37 and has a bulb keel then is it a shoal draft version?
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul. My bavaria 37 2002 is 1.85m draft with the bulb keel, and she does draw 1.85m as measured on sealift2 Haslar. Rgds Ray

Hi

I have a 2001 shoal draft, again has a bulb keel, draws 1.45 I believe. Can send you a picture of the keel if you want.

Thanks yes that would be useful. I went to look at a 37 from 2001 the details specify a draft of 1.85, she's out of the water and it just struck me when I viewed her that it didn't look that much from water line to bottom of keel which is what got me wondering in the first place. I guess I need to see the original bill of sale, or manual (if either are available). But a photograph would be very useful.
Thanks

Paul
