Changing filters on Bav 36 (2002)

Boat is new to me and engine access seems good apart from the oil and two fuel filters changing.
These are located on the 'wrong' or awkward side where there is no easy access.
Although I have yet to try it seems to present problems.

Any tips ?

Have now changed the oil filter.
It was in the most awkward position.
No short cuts or hints to report.

Thanks for the  rerply TRUNDLETRUC.

I used one of the filter removing tools, the kind with the bicycle chain.
But only about 1/10 of a circle clearence and much fumbling.
Better news is that VP supply two filters for this engine.
The larger filters end is clear of the obstructions and is much easier to get at.

Another hint.

The lower front panel of engine compartment is held on by 6 screws.
Remove these and front panel lifts out.
This gives much improved access to filters and impeller.
Problem solved.

And another hint,

When changing the primary fuel filter located a short distance aft of the starboard side access door, cut the top off an empty plastic 2 litre milk container, leaving the handle in place but cutting down towards the top of the widest part. The bottom bit of the container with the handle will fit under and around the fuel filter so that its contents when separated from the top don't end up sloshing around in the bilge.
Also having changed the primary filter first, there was enough fuel left in the secondary filter to enable the engine to run long enough at low rpm for the system to automatically recharge the filters with fuel and without needing to fiddle about with the priming pump. Then the secondary filter was changed, and again there was enough fuel in the injector pump and lines to do the same again.

Meant to try this but keep forgetting.

Prior engine / oil warm up, shut off the fuel valve and open the breather screw from prim filter. This way
you use up most of the fuel from filters and less spillage.
