Replacement diode splitter giving an alam.

I am a bit lost, hope someone knows a solution.

Last weekend I replaced my diode battery splitter for a Victron, the original from Sure Power model 1202 broke down.

Basically just switched the wires 1 from alternator to input , 1 output goes via the starter to the starter battery and output 2  goes to the service batteries. Exactly how the sure power was connected.

Al works fine, until I turn the master switch from the starter battery off, the battery alarm lights up saying starter battery 2 volts, when switching the main switch on again 13.6 V

What could cause the 2 volts to show?

Argo diode 1202AC 120 amp.
Engine Volvo D2 55
Altenator 12v115 -a

Start battery 80 a
Service 2x140amps

Old diode bridge was120 -amps aswell.

Hi

Do you have Operating Panel 301 ?
When you get 2v is shore power cable connected ?

About 5 years ago my first Diode goes broken.
Even the starter battery main switch was open, all the lights were on on the pedestal.
Like fuel gauge etc.
Diode allowed voltage to run both ways. From Alternator to the Battery and back.
Problems start when I installed extra batteries.
We have D2-40. And with that 115A alternator. Max output seems to be between 90 and 100A
I think original diode 1202 is very close it's limit.
After surepower 1202 I acquired mastervolt  1202.  It is also max. 120A. It was probably also too close it´s limit.
Now it is broken. New mastervolt  1602 waiting for installation.
Mastervolt 1602 specification.
Max. current charger 120A (continuous) 
Max. current alternator 160A (intermittent)

It look like continuous current is 25% less that max.
My theory would be on that case.. 120A diode is too small for 115A alternator.
Or it's life time is very limited.


"What could cause the 2 volts to show?"

I could be possible to make some testing to find reson for that 2v.
If shore power is connected take the connector off from the socket.
If there is still 2v.
Open the wires from diode and use ordinary multimeter to test the diode.
Use meter diode area to test if both sides are working as those should be.

If those works as those should be working. Only one way.
Connect wires back to the diode and try to remove connection between battery charger and starter battery.
With Quick charger there should be 2 output. (If you have quick).  One to the service battery and second one to the starter battery.
Just open that cable connector which is going to the starter battery...

Thank you for the diagram.
I indeed have the 301 panel


Will try your suggestions over the weekend.

Not sure what charger is installed, except that is metal color in the middel and orange ish at the sides.

if it is metal in the middle and orange at the end, it must be a "Quick" charger from italy.
