After a long conversation with a friend who worked in a lab for a well know marine company, he has convinced me to change from zinc to aluminium.
The reasons for his statements are logically based, he says most boats are kept in estuaries or rivers so zinc is not very effective. Manufacturer's of outboards fit aluminium for the same reason. You can tell if you should change by observing the state of your anode when you lift out, is it calcified, whitish colour that need chipping off.

I have purchased an aluminium anode for my 120s leg from "Solent Anodes " and will try it out this year as I am lifted out at the moment. Watch this space, will review this time next year.
However, if you keep your boat in seawater all the time this will not apply to you.
