fitting Lowrance broadband 3G radar
« on: May 28 2014, 21:42 »
Just installed radome and interface box and find the cable linking the chartplotter to the interface box is not long enough. Awaiting an answer but seems like the "extension cable"!!?? advertised does not have male female ends to "extend" (15Ft) and the next size up cost a fortune and is far to long..
Need opinions on the practicalities of splicing in a section.  Would dearly love to have working for the weekend. Is it worth a try??

Why not?  It's only cable, as long as it's securely connected it doesn't really matter whether you've used the fancy patented connectors.
