propeller size for 2003 Bav 38

Does anyone know the prop size for a 2003 Bav 38 fitted with the volvo D2 55HP engine?
I seem to be getting conflicting advice fr0m different dealers.

My bav 40 ocean with md22 50hp uses a 17x14L , my guess is about the same or 17x15L. Geoff

I forgot to mention that the prop in question is a three bladed fixed.


The boat is in Greece, thats why I cannot check it. .gonna try to buy a new one at the boat show.

Hello Steve.
If you want to buy a new Prop at the boat show you will always need to mention your type of boat, engine, building year, etc. They wont have the right prop on the shelf for you. So they will gather your boat data, and a good dealer/maker should know Bavaria 38/55 HP Volvo/Saildrive/Gear reduction ratio +++, and being able to recommend the right prop. Either they give you an offer at the show or later by mail so you can decide.

If you are buying an original equipment fixed prop then the dealer will recommend the size. suggest you check first with Clipper Marine who will have the original spec. If you are buying a folding or feathering prop again the supplier will recommend a size, which may not necessarily be the same as a fixed prop.
