2002 Bavaria 40 needs holding tank fitted
« on: December 24 2024, 03:00 »
Hi
We have a 2002 Bavaria 40 3 cabin that requires a holding tank to be fitted. I was wondering if anyone has the same boat with a holding tank and could provide photos or diagram etc. of its layout. It appears to have very limited space to fit one although under the sole outside the toilet there is space. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Our 2001 vintage 3cabin model has (I believe factory fitted) holding tank on Stern/midships heads on cabinet space just behind/above The toilet bowl. Unfortunately I don 't have photos of installaatio.

On bow heads, we have no holding tank, but have sometimes considered adding one under salon settee right next to the heads.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of fitting it outside the toilet in the floor space. Our cabinet space is next to the toilet on the port side. It seems a small space for a tank though. I was hoping to fit something around 40ltrs. I am still trying to decide if I o it myself or get it fitted professionally.

Avoid pumped systems with the tank outside the loo compartment. The original from the factory option was like that with the tank under the settee. such systems mean running pipes through the boat (full of waste!) pumps and a separate outlet. A gravity tank in the loo compartment is a viable solution and there is room for a tank of about 45l. I had one fitted to my 37 of the same age as your boat with a similar loo compartment. Plastic tanks are best but it will have to be custom made. suggest you have a look at www.tek-tanks.com for ideas on tank layouts. THey make custom tanks, and they may well have an existing design for your boat. Appreciate that it is not practical to have a tank made in the UK, but pretty sure you will be able to find a firm that can make one in Australia - similar tanks are widely used in the chemical and agricultural industries.
