Shower drain on 2004 38 - Access impossible?
« on: October 27 2024, 16:07 »
Hi everyone,

the shower drain on my 2004 38 leaks and I would like for it not to do that anymore. To fix it, access to the void below the  heads would be extremely helpful. The only way I have found is where the hose from the shower drain pump goes down there but that is so small I cannot even fit my hand in there.

I tried taking out the screws out of the shower drain fitting and pulling the hose out a bit through the hole in the GRP pan but the hose+hoseclamp seems to be bigger than the hole.

Has anyone had the same problem? How do I get to this?

BTW, this is the 3-cabin model with one heads on the port side.

Any pointers are greatly appreciated.

Tom

I've had that same drain and managed to pull the hose and hoseclamp out through the hole. Possibly there was a little enlarging of the hole to fit the screw of the clamp involved.

Then it was just a matter of replacing them and rebedding the drain fitting.

There is no other way to access this, you'd have to cut out the shower tray bottom if you want to get in there. Luckily that wasn't necessary.

Oh that's great news. So maybe a little persuasion to get it through there. I'll try that and report back. Thank you.

You might also try accessing it from the engine bay.  The step between the shower and the head is hollow.  You might put a boroscope viewer down there and have a look first.
