New lazy bag fo Bavaria 40?
« on: October 07 2024, 07:21 »
Now that I have a new sail on my boat, my lazy bag broke and I need a replacement.
Do you know if the bag is an original Bavaria or Selden part sold somewhere?
Or can anybody recommend a good 3rd party substitute?
The current bag is slightly too tight to fit the new sail which is now 5 battens instead of the previous 4.

Boat is a 40 Cruiser with a Selden mast. Boom length is 5m.

Nothing special about the bag. Any decent sailmaker can make you one

Any canvas man will make one. Talk to whoever make spray hoods, covers etc.

Our sailmaker, Doyle, made ours last year.  It was about $2,000 US extra, but totally worthwhile. Our boat neighbors made his own for less than $500.  He got the design from Sailrite.com.

Profile says in Germany!

You really don't need a pattern, just basic measurements, but there are many variations of design and construction so best to discuss with the person making it. no reason it can't be done at a distance with a phone call to agree details and price.

Thanks for all your input. I found "Sebel", a business located in Pula (Croatia) where my boat is berthed.
I found their sticker on a nicely done sprayhood on a boat next to mine.
