Bavaria 33 Cruiser Autopilot
« on: August 01 2024, 08:49 »
I have a Bavaria 33 cruiser from 2013. It is fitted with a Garmin autopilot driven by a Lewmar Integra drive. It’s not working properly due to a faulty rudder position sensor.
Can anybody help me and tell me how their rudder sensor is arranged.
I have a peculiar system (that came with the boat) which is a sensor attached to the side of the Lewmar drive unit.
Has anyone been able to fit a Garmin rudder sensor ?
I would be extremely grateful to hear from anyone with this system in their boat.
Thank you.

hi there,

had the same problem with my Jefa LD100. You can test that it is actually the Garmin sensor with a simple multimeter. Instructions are provided on the jefa homepage.
For a new DU-LD-RFB1-R unit (= the Garmin sensor) they ask 132€ ex Vat. It is simple to install.
