Bavaria 34 stem head bolts
« on: June 09 2024, 07:56 »
I have some rust animating from the stem head fitting securing the forestay.

There are three substantial bolts (countersunk Allan heads) I am going to remove each one sequentially to inspect for condition.

Does anyone have the detail or reference for these bolts so I can prepare three replacements ?

Thanks

Usually Bavaria is using metric screws. The bolts are from DIN 7991/ DIN EN ISO 10642. After dismantling the first one, take lenght and diameter measurement. If the bolts don't have any visible damages (pitting,..), you don't need to replace them. Rust can be easily removed with a bath in oxalic acid.
