SailDrive Seacock

Any advise on changing the SD seacock? local Volvo said that if the seacock is not turning as smooth as it was, then time to change.

So I removed mine after yelling and screaming (damn thing is tight!!!). But I noticed the threads did not have any Teflon Tape and instead the connection is with some sort fo plastic / teflon washer and between Brass and Valve connection, it also has a copper washer in addition to the plastic seal.

this will be a challenge to put back together in a tight place

any advise is welcome as I don't' want any surprised in Spring when boat is put back in water and water leaking out of the valve connections.

thanks in advance.

To late for you but put"  step drill  " Into modifications on this forum search and see the easy way to remove seacocks from hull. The skin fitting needs changing so why struggle.
Saves all the hard work and stress,  but you still have to put a new one in. Easier though.

Hi,
So how is the step drill going to help me remove a valve sitting in the sail drive leg? See pic.
I wish it was On the hull :)

Sorry Crystal was not paying attention to the SD in the question.
