Steering compass B34
« on: April 09 2023, 11:30 »
The steering compass on the binnacle has lost some of its fluid over the winter and now appears about 50% can these get topped back up or is it a new one? If so where do you get them?

If it the a suunto like a lot of early 2000s boats it will be the bellows split . I repaired mine many years ago by prying off the old bellows and replacing them with a £1 silicon collapsible camping beaker from ebay . All in all a bit of a pfaff but it has lasted 10+ years .Geoff

We did exactly like geoff and it's fine ever since. Initially there was a small bubble, but this has appeared over winter, perhaps due to temperature change, and now the compass is perfect again. Thanks geoff, btw :D

Filled with Johnson's baby oil and yellow silicone mug (the lid actually, not the mug).
