Bilge pump and Float Switch in Bavaria 42
« on: October 21 2022, 14:13 »
My old bilge pump is out of order and.

As a layman, I  have two questions :

(a) how to set the levels of the pump and the float switch ? which one should be set higher than the other (less likely to touch water)? and

(b) I am anxious to drill hole onto my hull in order to fix the float switch - May I use super glue like Quiadsa FIJA + PLUS to fix the float switch to the hull ?

Thanks in advance.

You should not drill a hole in the hull - you can drill one in the stringer though. Or just use epoxy to make a mount (piece of plywood).

The float switch must be slightly higher than the pump, otherwise the pump will run dry and they don't last long doing that. Although normally the pumps on well maintained Bavarias die from never running, as there is no water in the bilge if the boat is leak free.
