Throttle leaver seal

Like your selves, I have been looking for a nice way to stop water getting though
the throttle leaver, as the white rubber seal supplied disintegrates after a while.
So I have designed and made a high tech. seal which looks nice and does the job.
I am not in business making the seals, but if you would like me to make one for you
I will have to charge £50 as there is aircraft spec. material, O rings and about 2 hours
machining and anodising, (red, black or silver)
I have photographs of the seal and how to fit, very easy, if you would like a look.

Replaced my seal with 8mm silicone, cut seal diameter to suit and put 17mm hole in it.

Take rubber bung out of throttle, take out spindle disc, undo nut need socket,  take off throttle handle, may need hub puller as its on a tapper.

Fit and reverse operation.

Job done for free.

Thanks for that.  Seems straight forward.  Any tips for cutting neat circles in this stuff.  My first thought were modelling knife around a washer or similar, but are there any tricks using heat or something?

Stuck large washer to silicone with paper tape, cut around washer with scissors, centre holds tape in place, then just guessed the 17mm.

I just happened to have some 8mm sheet but any softish rubber material would do it.

You can get 8mm think silicone sheet on Fleabay for a few quid if you need some - looks like it would do the job.

Odysseus- I've found 2 types of silicone sheet on eBay.
1. Silicone Sponge
2. Silicone Sheet with shore hardness 60

Which did you use?

The shore hardness 60 is a bit tuff needs to be softer so a good seal is made without to much pressure, however silicone sponge sheet has a honeycomb effect and the edge will show this.
If its not expensive get both and see whats best for you.

Or go to a good ironmongery shop and look through the stock of washers there.

Found info on the Lewmar throttle lever. Originally a neoprene washer is used.
On heavy rain I get lots of water, collecting in the tunnel under the console, where the steering control cable goes to the rudder. After a while the water comes out from one screw at the foot end of stb. aft cabin.
I hope putting a new neoprene washer does it. I also suspect the inspection cover mount to let water in. Hard to tell because all is wet after a while.
I will make such a neoprene washer and will re-set the inspection cover with fresh silicone.
