I think they're all cut, as they need to be so the mast can be un-stepped. Silicone grease is your friend with preventing corrosion (as it prevents moisture touching the raw copper). I dipped the wires into grease, then crimped boot-lace ferrules on all the wires and joined them in a small size choc-block which was also squeeze full of grease. Zero issues in the uhm, 6 years since.
